Fudgy walnut brownies made with dark chocolate and butter, with a thin crackly top and a dense, moist middle. Cut into squares for coffee time or for guests.
Ingredients
Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 175 °C and line a 20x20 cm square tin with baking paper.
- 2
Melt the chocolate and butter in a bowl set over barely simmering water, stirring, for 4-5 minutes; remove and let cool for 5 minutes.
- 3
Whisk the eggs and sugar for 3-4 minutes until slightly pale, then stir in the warm chocolate mixture.
- 4
Sift in the flour and cocoa and fold with a spatula just until no flour remains; stir in most of the walnuts.
- 5
Spread the batter in the tin, scatter the remaining walnuts on top and bake for 25-28 minutes; a toothpick in the centre should come out with moist crumbs.
- 6
Cool in the tin for at least 1 hour, then cut into 16 squares.
