Finely chop the dark chocolate with a knife.

In a small bowl, mix the cocoa powder and sugar; add about 100 g of the milk and whisk into a smooth, lump-free paste.

Heat the rest of the milk in a saucepan over medium heat for 4-5 minutes, until it just starts to froth at the edges. Do not boil.

Add the cocoa paste and chopped chocolate to the hot milk and cook over low heat for 3-4 minutes, whisking constantly, until the chocolate has melted and the drink has thickened slightly.

Pour into mugs and serve hot.
